Advanced Korean Guides

Advanced Korean is less about new rules and more about nuance: which form sounds natural in a meeting, how hypotheticals and wishes are phrased, how register shifts when the room gets formal. This section collects the guides written for that stage. It is the smallest hub on the blog right now, and it will grow as the advanced content expands.

The current set covers the grammar that marks advanced speech: causative expressions with 시키다 and 하게 하다, hypotheticals and wishes beyond basic conditionals, and workplace culture, where language and hierarchy are inseparable. At this level, culture guides are grammar guides, because choosing the wrong register is a grammatical mistake in practice even if the conjugation is technically correct.

For reference material at this depth, the grammar encyclopedia and the verb conjugator are the two free tools that hold up: the first for patterns past textbook scope, the second for checking any verb across forms. If you are working toward TOPIK II levels 5 and 6, the TOPIK hub has the score-band breakdowns.

At this level, collect alternatives rather than single translations. Note which expression appears in conversation, formal writing, messaging, or professional speech, and ask what relationship it implies. Reuse corrections in a later piece of writing or conversation. That cycle turns subtle feedback into durable control instead of another interesting explanation you recognize but do not choose naturally.
