NotebookLM is useful when you already have study material and want help understanding it. You can add notes or documents, ask questions about them, and generate summaries or study prompts.

That makes it useful for some parts of Korean study, but it is not the same thing as a language course or a long-term review system.

Where NotebookLM is useful

Explaining difficult material

If a textbook explanation is dense, asking follow-up questions can make a grammar pattern easier to understand. It can also help summarize a chapter or organize notes before you study them.

Working from your own sources

NotebookLM is source-centered. That is helpful when your class, textbook, or teacher already determines what you need to study.

Quick review material

Generated questions and summaries can be useful for checking whether you understood something in the current session.

Where it is weaker for language learning

Review over time

Understanding a grammar point once is different from recalling it a week later. A language-learning workflow usually needs some way to revisit vocabulary and patterns after the original study session.

NotebookLM is primarily a document and research tool. It is not designed around a learner's vocabulary history, course progression, or spaced review schedule.

Production practice

A generated quiz can test recognition, but Korean also requires producing language: typing a form, building a sentence, listening and responding, or speaking it aloud.

Course sequencing

NotebookLM works from the sources you give it. It does not decide which Korean concept should come next or whether prerequisite grammar has already been taught.

A practical way to use it

NotebookLM can be a useful understanding tool alongside a course, class, textbook, or review system:

  1. Use it to clarify difficult explanations or readings.
  2. Keep your primary curriculum or teacher as the source of sequence.
  3. Put important vocabulary and grammar into a review workflow that returns over time.
  4. Add active production practice rather than relying only on summaries and quizzes.

Where Chamelingo fits

Chamelingo is built for a different job: structured lessons, active practice, and scheduled review. It can also work with supported custom material, including AI-assisted drafts that are reviewed before publishing.

That does not make NotebookLM a bad Korean study tool. The two products solve different problems.
