한테 dominates conversation; 에게 appears more in writing and careful speech.

Mistake: thinking one form is “wrong”. They differ mainly by register.
Level: elementary. Read both sides of the contrast, say the examples out loud, then write one correct and one incorrect sentence and fix it.
