Honest scoring

Transcript recognition, not accent certification.

What this measures: how closely your browser’s Korean recognition transcript matches each target. It does not measure tongue position, acoustic phonemes, native-likeness, or clinical speech quality. Chamelingo does not store an audio recording from this page.

Say the target naturally

0/10 scored

Test map

What the 10 prompts cover

Every target is visible here before you start. The test groups them by a practice problem so the result can point to a useful next drill.

1. Consonant contrast

달, 탈, 딸

moon, mask, daughter

Keep ㄷ, ㅌ, and ㄸ distinct rather than collapsing them into one English-style sound.

2. Consonant contrast

불, 풀, 뿔

fire, grass, horn

Contrast ㅂ, ㅍ, and ㅃ while keeping the vowel and final ㄹ stable.

3. Vowel contrast

어디예요? 오리예요?

Where is it? Is it a duck?

Keep ㅓ and ㅗ distinct inside short phrases.

4. Vowel contrast

그분은 누구예요?

Who is that person?

Keep ㅡ and ㅜ distinct while moving through a full polite sentence.

5. Batchim

밥 먹었어요.

I ate.

Keep the final ㅂ in 밥 controlled before the next consonant.

6. Batchim

책 읽어요.

I read a book.

Practice final consonants inside a phrase instead of reading each block separately.

7. Connected speech

한국어를 공부해요.

I study Korean.

Let adjacent syllables connect naturally instead of pausing after every block.

8. Connected speech

같이 가요.

Let’s go together.

Practice a common spelling-to-sound change in a short, useful phrase.

9. Sentence production

오늘 날씨가 정말 좋아요.

The weather is really nice today.

Say the whole sentence at a comfortable pace without restarting between words.

10. Sentence production

천천히 다시 말해 주세요.

Please say it again slowly.

Keep the polite phrase connected and intelligible from start to finish.

How to use the result

1

Retake before diagnosing

One recognition miss can be noise. Repeat under similar conditions before treating it as a pattern.

2

Drill the weakest bucket

Use the result link to isolate the contrast, batchim, or connected-speech pattern that was least consistent.

3

Return to sentences

After isolated practice, say the full prompt again. Clear pronunciation has to survive normal connected speech.

Pronunciation self-test FAQ

Is this a real Korean pronunciation score?

It is a real recognition-based practice score: the tool compares the transcript returned by browser Korean speech recognition with the authored target. It is not a phoneme, accent, clinical, or native-likeness score.

Does Chamelingo upload or store my microphone recording?

This self-test does not upload or retain an audio file in Chamelingo. Speech recognition is provided by your browser, and browser vendors can implement that recognition differently.

Why can my score change even when I say the same thing?

Background noise, microphone quality, speaking pace, connected speech, and differences in the browser recognition engine can all change the transcript. Compare repeated sessions under similar conditions.

What should I do with a weak category?

Open the recommended drill, isolate that sound or pattern, listen and repeat several examples, then return to the full phrase. Persistent low recognition is a practice signal, not a diagnosis.
