때 marks a time frame or “when”: 학생 때, 갈 때, 아플 때.
동안 marks duration: 한 시간 동안, 삼 년 동안.
Clause “while doing” can use V-는 동안.
Mistake: 삼 년 때 살았어요 intending “lived for three years.”
Level: elementary. Read both sides of the contrast, say the examples out loud, then write one correct and one incorrect sentence and fix it.
