-도록 can mark purpose or extent: 이해할 수 있도록 설명했어요 (explained so they could understand).
It also appears in “until” extent readings: 밤이 깊도록 이야기했어요.
More formal or written than everyday -게 in many purpose cases, but both appear in real Korean.
Watch collocations like -도록 하다 (have someone do / make sure that).
