How to read TOPIK scores and levels
The Test of Proficiency in Korean (TOPIK) reports converted section scores from 0 to 100. TOPIK I combines listening and reading for a 200-point total. TOPIK II adds writing for a 300-point total. Levels are awarded from those totals using fixed official thresholds, not from raw “items correct” alone.
Use this free TOPIK score calculator after a practice test or when you have a score report and want a quick level estimate. If you are still building foundations, pair it with the free Korean level estimate quiz and structured TOPIK prep practice.

Frequently asked questions
How is TOPIK level calculated from scores?
TOPIK levels use total converted section scores. TOPIK I totals listening + reading (max 200): Level 1 starts at 80, Level 2 at 140. TOPIK II totals listening + writing + reading (max 300): Level 3 at 120, Level 4 at 150, Level 5 at 190, Level 6 at 230.
Should I enter raw correct answers or converted scores?
Enter the converted 0-100 section scores shown on an official or practice score report. This calculator does not convert raw item counts; those tables vary by form and session.
What is the difference between TOPIK I and TOPIK II?
TOPIK I covers Levels 1-2 with listening and reading only. TOPIK II covers Levels 3-6 and adds a writing section. Your total is compared against the official band for that exam.
Is this an official NIIED TOPIK calculator?
No. Chamelingo is not affiliated with NIIED. The tool applies publicly known total-score thresholds so you can estimate a level quickly. Always confirm against your official score report.
How do I raise my TOPIK level after calculating a score?
Focus on the section that holds the total down, then practice under time pressure. Use structured TOPIK vocabulary and grammar drills, timed reading, and listening. A free level estimate quiz can also show broader skill gaps beyond exam scores.
