Noun + 이에요/예요 equates identity: 학생이에요. Batchim nouns take 이에요; open take 예요 (often reduced in speech).
아니에요 negates identity: 학생이 아니에요 (I’m not a student). Note 이/가 often appears before 아니다.
Do not say 학생 아니에요 without the subject particle in careful speech. 학생이 아니에요 is the standard pattern.
