Explanation

또 봐요 means “see you again” and is a common polite farewell when another meeting is expected or desired.

다음에 봐요 means “see you next time.” Add a specific time when known: 내일 봐요, 다음 주에 봐요, or 월요일에 봐요.

또 봐 is the casual version for close relationships. The expression does not encode who leaves and who stays, so it is simpler than the directional 안녕히 가세요 and 안녕히 계세요 pair.

Use it at the end of a date, class, meetup, workday, or friendly visit when the relationship supports an expectation of meeting again.

Examples

오늘 고마웠어요. 또 봐요!

oneul gomawosseoyo. tto bwayo!

Thank you for today. See you again!

내일 학교에서 봐요.

naeil hakgyoeseo bwayo.

See you at school tomorrow.

응, 다음에 또 봐.

eung, daeume tto bwa.

Yeah, see you again next time.

Mini dialogue

오늘 정말 재미있었어요.

Today was really fun.

저도요. 다음 주에 또 봐요.

For me too. See you again next week.

Common mistakes

  • Do not promise another meeting with 또 봐요 when the situation clearly calls for a final or purely formal farewell.
  • Do not remove 요 unless casual speech is appropriate.

How to practice

  1. Add a day or place to make the next meeting concrete.
  2. Use 또 만나요 as another possible “let us meet again,” though 또 봐요 is extremely common.
  3. Pair it with 잘 가요 for a warm departure.
