Explanation

When a batchim is followed by a vowel-initial syllable, it often moves: 한국어 → [한구거] in connected speech.

Spelling stays 한국어. Pronunciation follows liaison rules you must hear, not invent from English.

Practice with audio: 있어요, 없어요, 같이, 읽어: each has linking or special readings.

Writing tests want correct Hangul, not a phonetic respelling of the liaison.

Examples

한국어

Korean (language). Expect linking in natural speech.

있어요

There is / have. Listen for the liaison.

Common mistakes

  • Respelling words to match liaison in formal writing.
  • Ignoring audio and only reading isolated blocks.
