Core housing words are 월세 for monthly rent, 보증금 for deposit, 관리비 for management fee, 계약서 for contract, 집주인 for landlord, and 부동산 for a real-estate office. Ask 월세가 얼마예요? and 관리비에 인터넷이 포함돼요? to separate rent from included services.
Before agreeing to anything, you can say 계약서를 먼저 읽어 볼게요—“I’ll read the contract first.” This page teaches language, not housing or legal advice. Requirements and contract terms vary, so rely on the actual document and qualified local guidance for decisions.
For a problem, describe the observable issue: 온수가 안 나와요 means there is no hot water, 난방이 안 돼요 means the heating is not working, and 에어컨이 고장 났어요 means the air conditioner is broken. Then ask 수리해 주실 수 있어요?—“Could you repair it?”
To coordinate access, ask 언제 확인하러 오실 수 있어요? for when someone can come check it. If you need advance notice, 오시기 전에 연락해 주세요 means “Please contact me before you come.” Keep the address, unit number, and a photo of the issue ready.

Common mistakes
- 난로 is a heater or stove-like appliance. For a building heating problem, 난방이 안 돼요 is usually the useful sentence.
- Do not use 고장 났어요 for every situation without naming what is broken. Put the appliance or system first.
- Do not treat a vocabulary page as contract advice. Confirm money, dates, included services, and obligations in the actual agreement.
How to practice
- Memorize your unit number and address in Korean before calling or messaging building staff.
- Describe one observable problem, when it started, and the requested next step.
- Practise rent, deposit, and management fee as separate terms so you do not combine different costs.
- Use 존댓말 and a concrete time question when coordinating a visit.
