Explanation

도와주세요 is the compact polite request “Please help me.” It comes from 돕다, “to help,” plus 주세요.

Use it when you need practical assistance: you are lost, carrying something, or need help with a machine. Explain the problem after the request if you can.

In an emergency, say 도와주세요! loudly and seek local emergency help immediately.

Examples

길을 잃었어요. 도와주세요.

Gireul ireosseoyo. Dowajuseyo.

A: Are you okay?

B: 이 문을 열어 주세요. 도와주세요.

B: Please open this door. Help me.

Common mistakes

  • 돕다 changes form here: 도와주세요, not 돕아주세요.
  • 좀 makes a request softer; it does not mean “a little” in this use.

How to practice

  1. Suitable for strangers when you genuinely need assistance.
  2. 도와주실 수 있어요? is a softer “Could you help me?”
